Education Initiative: The focus of this initiative is to assist persons in closing educational deficiencies through the following programs.
After School Initiative:
For children and youth in elementary and middle school in the targeted community. This program will run during the school year to assist students in maintain a positive academic performance.
Special emphasis will be placed on closing academic performance gaps, improving test scores, improving computer skills, and addressing social and physical needs.
Hours of operation for students would be from 3 pm – 6 pm, Monday through Friday.
Summer Enrichment:
For children and youth in elementary and middle school in the targeted community.
This program would run from June through August, daily from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The focus of the Enrichment program is to assist in helping children bridge learning from one grade to the next as well as to provide them with social and life skills to promote academic success with special emphasis on reading, writing, and math skills.
Career Readiness:
This initiative introduces young adults to principles rooted in real life, helping them to build positive attitudes that graduating students need for life beyond high school.
Helping them to take the practice standardized test, prepare for the SAT, and start them on the trail of searching for scholarships, retrieving letters of recommendation etc., all needed for a successful transition from High School to the next phase in their lives, being it college, technical school or a trade.
Computer Literacy:
This initiative is to help older adults and those who lack the necessary skills to perform basic task on the computer, which is needed to sustain in today’s modern world of technology. Basic computer skills are no longer an option, but mandatory for school, work, shopping, and even communication.
Computer Literacy is vital in everyday life where everything requires some form of computer skills.
